About Joanna

Joanna Brenton, who has lived in Cornwall all her life, finished her training as a florist in 2005 and has gained much experience since then working as a wedding florist in and around her local area of Crantock and Newquay.  Joanna is passionate about flowers and foliage and has always wanted to come back to her creative roots, so when the opportunity arose for her to train as a florist she felt that she had finally found her niche.  She delivers a very personal service interpreting each brides ideas and always looks forward to creating both unique and original wedding flowers.  Joanna became a mother for the first time in 2007 and left her career of 10 years so that she could put all her efforts into raising her daughter and setting up independently as a wedding florist.  She is able to offer a very personal and professional service, meeting with brides at their home or at their chosen venue and is able to work to all budgets.  What ever your wedding theme may be Joanna can design your flowers to suit and will have your flowers delivered fresh to your venue and/or home for your special day. Her attention to detail, quality of work and creative eye will ensure that your flowers will be beautiful and enhance your wedding day completely.

Why Joanna chose Rafflesia as her business name:  It all came about when she travelled through Indonesia in 2001.  She was fortunate enough to see the legendary Rafflesia arnoldi flower - the largest flower in the world - in full bloom even though it was out of season.  After reading  up on this plant and finding out it's Latin name she loved the way the written word looked and although the flower itself is not related to wedding flowers in anyway, it is the largest flower in the world, it is rare and fairly hard to locate and the flower only lasts for a few days, it only grows naturally in Sumatra and Borneo and it is named after the founder of Singapore, Sir Stamford Raffles.  She therefore feels extremely lucky to have seen such an amazing flower in its native environment and has ever since wanted to use this beautiful word for a business name.
